General Questions
Risks and Concerns
-
The most common side effects are tooth sensitivity and gum irritation. These side effects are usually temporary and may last 24 hours.
-
Gums may become irritated after a professional teeth whitening treatment due to leakage of the whitening agent onto the gums or the strength of the product causing irritation indirectly. This reaction is temporary and will subside. In the meantime, brush gently, avoiding the gums, and refrain from harsh flossing.
Maintenance and aftercare
-
To maintain your bright smile, practice good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day and flossing or using a water pick daily. Avoid consuming foods and drinks that stain teeth, such as coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco, for at least 24 hours after teeth whitening to achieve consistent results. Additionally, consider using a whitening toothpaste to help remove stains.
-
Our Teeth whitening agents can't change the colour of crowns, veneers, or fillings to make them look whiter.
However, we can effectively remove any surface stains that these restorations may have absorbed over time.
-
Drinking coffee through a straw can help reduce the risk of staining your teeth. By using a straw, you minimize the contact between the coffee and your teeth, which helps prevent the dark pigments from adhering to your enamel. Additionally, it can also help protect your teeth from the acidic nature of coffee, reducing the potential for enamel erosion.

Sensitivity and Suitability
-
Some people may experience temporary tooth sensitivity after teeth whitening. This usually subsides within a few days. Using toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth can help alleviate discomfort. In addition, using our take home Minerals will help alleviate inflammation in the gums and nerve pain developing in the teeth.
-
Most people with healthy teeth and gums can benefit from teeth whitening. However, it is advised to disclose any oral health issues or if you are pregnant or postpartum to help better customize your treatment.
-
Anyone over the age of 16 is suitable for teeth whitening treatments.
Individuals under the age of 16 will need a parental/guardian consent for teeth whitening since their teeth and gums are still developing, making them more sensitive to damage and discomfort from whitening agents. Additionally, the thinner enamel and ongoing changes in their teeth can lead to uneven results and increased sensitivity.
